Creating a table

Open the ⋯ menu in the sidebar and choose Table, then click the canvas for a 3 × 3 table — or drag out a box to size it yourself. The first cell is already selected: just start typing.

Click, click, edit

Tables follow Freeform’s rhythm: the first click selects the table, the second selects a cell, a third click (or a double-click at any time) edits it. A cell is a small note for lists and links — but it is formatted as a whole: bold, italic, underline, font, size, colour and alignment always apply to the entire cell (even with only a word selected), and are stored per cell. Text sits vertically centred by default; top and bottom are a click away.

• Tab / Shift+Tab move to the next / previous cell while editing — past the last cell a new row appears.
• With a cell selected: arrow keys move, Shift+arrows, Shift+click or a drag select a range (shown in grey), Enter or simply typing starts editing, Delete empties the cells, Esc steps back to the table.
• The T button in the floating bar formats every selected cell at once: font, size, colour, bold / italic / underline, lists, horizontal and vertical alignment.
• Cmd/Ctrl+C, X and V with cells selected copy, cut and paste the cells with their formatting — into the same or another table, starting at the selected cell (the table grows if needed; one copied cell fills a whole selected range). The clipboard also carries the text as tab-separated rows, so it pastes into Sheets, Numbers or Excel — and a block copied there pastes into a table.

Rows, columns and sizes

• The + buttons to the right and below a selected table add a column / row; with a cell selected, the floating bar inserts rows above/below and columns left/right, or deletes them.
• Drag a grid line to change a column’s width or a row’s minimum height. Rows always grow with their text — nothing is ever cut off.
• Select a whole row or column (drag across it) and a ⋮ handle appears beside the row / above the column — drag it to move the row or column; it reorders live as you go.
• Drag the table’s corner or edge handles to scale all columns and rows proportionally.

Looks

With the table selected, the floating bar offers the table fill (or “no fill” for a transparent grid) and the border style: all lines, outer frame only, rows (inner horizontal lines), columns (inner vertical lines), inner lines only, or none. With cells selected, the same swatch colours just those cells — a quick way to build a status board.
